To ameliorate the affiliation of aural and non-aural through expanding the use and knowledge of American Sign Language.
To have languages is to have tools to make better decisions together....
Knowing languages gives one various means to communicate....
Communication provides ample opportunity for interactions with others....
Increased social contact increases knowledge and understanding....
Where there is understanding, there will be cooperation....
And when cooperating peoples come together, effective, beneficial decisions can be made for the greater good.
ASL-As a Second Language is a mid-south based company that offers American Sign Language instruction, resources, and activities to promote the use of the langauge among the aural and non-aural to facilitate diversity, inclusion, communication, and functionality of our community.
ASLasl is a deaf-owned and operated sole-proprietorship that is currently running at a healthy 94% gross profit margin and surpasses industry standards in its ability to meet its short-term obligations.
The company was founded by Connie Robinson, mother of two and University of Memphis BBA graduate . Connie has served as a board member for the Parent-Teachers Association, the Memphis Chapter of the Association of the Deaf, and the Midsouth Community Services for the Deaf. She is a Tennessee Partner in Policymaking and director of the Deaf Family Literacy Midsouth program.
Using her own experiences with her congenital hearing loss, parenting her hearing children, tutoring her children's academic challenges, and advocating for accessibility, Connie created a business that encompassed her skills as an accountant, parent, educator, and deaf person to service the population segments that she knows best.
